Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra capture the ambiance of the ocean in this program led by Debussy's seafaring masterpiece. An excellent evocation of the ocean and its varied moods, La Mer will headline an evening which includes the symphony's premiere performance of Sibelius' Oceanides, Maria Huld Markan Sigfusdottir's Oceans and Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No. 2, featuring the talents of Vadim Gluzman.
Premiering in 1905, La Mer takes us on a buzzing journey from sun-drenched lazy waves to frenzied squalls. Influential and wholly entrancing, feel the power and playfulness of nature's majesty as imagined by one of classical music's finest and most enduring talents.
